Bodhi & Birch – Answered by Elijah Choo (Founder)
Tell us a bit about the brand?
Bodhi & Birch is a British brand specialising in eco-luxury bath, body and skin care, created to awaken your mind, indulge your senses and enlighten your skincare ritual. Proudly made in England, the award-winning range of products has become a cult favourite, championed by top beauty (male grooming) insiders and loved by celebrities around the world.
What was the inspiration for setting up the brand?
Bodhi & Birch draws inspiration from the healing power of nature and traditional botanical remedies, bringing together Eastern and Western skincare and wellbeing philosophies. Each product is expertly blended harnessing the finest materials nature has to offer, each ingredient is ethically sourced from sustainable origins.
In 3 words describe your products?
Eco-Luxury, Aromatherapeutic, Botanical
Which product would you recommend from the bath & shower therapy range?
Pep Noir Bath & Shower Therapy is our stand-out product for men. It's evocative scent of warming spices and herbs infuse skin with new life to help restore lost energy and impart a relaxed sense of confidence. Skin is left soft, supple and smooth, deeply cleansed but not stripped dry.
What would you suggest for those with tired aching muscles?
Siam Ginger Bath & Shower Therapy is perfect for aching muscles. It contains an invigorating blend of galangal root, turmeric and kaffir lime leaf which are known for their anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties. These botanicals have the ability to warm the body, boost circulation and soothe muscular aches and pains.
Which product out of the range is suitable for giving you that morning lift?
Pep Noir Bath & Shower Therapy is highly energising due to its signature blend of black pepper and white thyme essential oils. This is best as a wake-up product, or a “keep you up all night” shower before your evening out. Mint Thé Bath & Shower Therapy is a highly refreshing blend of mint, eucalyptus and herb oils to awaken the senses. Great as an after-sports body wash as it deodorises and helps ease muscle tension due to the high level of frankincense oil.
For the gentleman that has had a busy week at work; which is best for unwinding and why?
I recommend Jasmine Falls Bath & Shower Therapy in a hot bath. Pump the product on the hot tap when you run your bath; the heat from the hot water will reduce the viscosity of the product which will steadily dispense itself into the bath water. This scent contains high-altitude lavender and vetiver to help unwind the senses. More importantly, it contains jasmine, a precious oil with euphoric and highly relaxing properties to help melt away stress.
What are the benefits between using the eco-luxury Bodhi & Birch products rather than just a normal shower gel?
Our products contain potent levels of precious oils and active botanicals to rejuvenate skin and enhance well-being. These are combined with the expertise of advanced cosmetic science to create high-performance products formulated without harsh synthetics. Bodhi & Birch products are produced ethically and sustainably, with less impact on the environment. A little goes a long way with our products, plus the quality of ingredients we use ensure a luxurious experience and an indulgent scent journey.
What’s your favourite scent from the range?
This is a difficult question to answer as the range of scent is created and developed by me, thus with my preference in mind. My favourite often changes with my mood and through the seasons. If I were to pick my all time “go to” favourite, it would have to be Rosemary Chi as it is reviving and balancing, allowing my mood and senses to be calmed and awakened at the same time.
In your opinion is there a big difference between taking a shower or bath; or does it all depend on the individual’s lifestyle?
It is a personal preference. Prior to launching our bath and body range, we asked a variety of people if they are a morning shower or an evening bath person. People tend to associate showers with practicality, time-saving and awakening the senses. Baths tend to be an evening ritual for unwinding. It is usually considered as an indulgence and a moment to escape your daily stresses. That said, I am a shower person and I find a long drench in my rain shower with Bodhi & Birch most therapeutic and relaxing.
We would like to say a massive thank you to Elijah and the team at Bodhi for not only taking the time out of their busy schedule to answer our questions, but also for supplying us all with top of the range, high luxury products.
