How to Get Rid of Tired Looking Eyes?

Posted: Aug 14 2014

This week we have a very special grooming tip from Danielle Drury (National Education Manager at Sothys). We hope you enjoy!

We’ve all been there, you’ve had a long hard day at work where your eyes are frozen to a computer screen for what feels like forever, you’ve been stuck in a traffic jam getting nowhere fast or you’ve just woken up after a heavy night of partying. You look in the mirror and the image staring back at you is one with heavy eyelids, puffy bags and dark circles that look like you’ve drawn them on with a sharpie, and you wonder how to get rid of your tired looking eyes…

Stress, lack of sleep and a hectic lifestyle are the norm in our daily lives, so the toll it takes on our skin is a symptom that we need to deal with. Your eyes should become a focus of your daily routine for many reasons, not only to relieve symptoms of tiredness but to also reduce the appearance of those dreaded laughter lines we know will creep in eventually. As a woman getting bags and wrinkles is a nightmare I constantly wake up from in a cold sweat, but I’m afraid you guys are not immune from the dreaded ageing curse either.

So here are my top tips for keeping those peepers looking like you’ve had your full 8 hours every night…

1. Product

A daily dose of a protective eye product will not only decongest and hydrate the eyes, it will play a protective role against pollution and free radicals that can dramatically age your skin and accelerate the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Sothys Homme De-Stressing Eye Roll-On has been designed with a unique metal roller-ball applicator that works with the volcanic rock extract to stimulate blood and lymph circulation to reduce the appearance of dark circles and drain excess fluid that causes bags. Its light texture uses hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and exclusive plant extracts to stimulate collagen production to keep the eyes looking smooth and wrinkle free.

2. Application tips

Keep this product in the fridge for an instant burst of freshness first thing in the morning. Apply using the roller ball, under the eye with one back and forth movement only and then smooth the product around the eyes using tapping movements with the finger tips. You’ve probably all seen your girlfriends doing this with their products and wondered what on earth they’re up to! The tapping motions actually stimulate the blood circulation around the eyes and help the skin to absorb the product more efficiently giving you a quicker result!

3. Drink plenty of water

It helps to carry toxins out of the body, allows our vital organs to function properly and aids skin function. Dark circles, sunken eyes and dry skin can be a sign that you're dehydrated. It might not taste good, but when has anything that’s good for you?

4. Sleep!

Need I say more? Our entire bodies, including our skin, regenerate while we sleep. If you’re not getting enough sleep then your skin will let you know by showing you. So try and get those recommended 8 hours a night (weekends optional)

We'd like to thank Danielle for all her hard work and we look forward to more grooming tips from you in the future.
