It can be a pain to find the right barber for you. The last thing you want is to visit a new barber before your big night out and they end up messing up your hair.

So a lot of us end up sticking with the barber we have, even though we may not be entirely happy.

Now this may not always be the barber's fault, and it could be a communication breakdown - you can find out how to talk to your barber here.

But if you are struggling to find the best barber near you then here are 3 ways that you can find a barbershop in your area.

1. Recommendations

Now this may sound obvious, but the most sure fire way to find a barber near you is a recommendation. Ask your friend, your colleague in work or the man in the coffee shop with great hair where they get their hair cut. Even in 2018, this is still by far the easiest way to find a barber.

And with recommendations also comes Google and Facebook reviews. Both offer easy ways to find barbers in your area. Looks for barbershops with a lot of reviews and aim for over 4 stars on both. If their clients took time out of their day to go to Facebook or Google to leave a positive review then there's a good chance that they were worth the visit.

2. Instagram

Instagram is a tool that barbers now use as a portfolio for their work, and with this comes a great way for you to find a barber in your area. You may think well surely for that to work I'd have to know their Instagram handle, but we've actually come up with a little hack that allows you to get around this and find a barber in your area.

Step 1: Go to Instagram

Step 2: Click on the search tab

Step 3: Type in "location + barber"

Step 4: Click on the "PLACES" Tab

Step 5: Scroll down to see all the barbershops that have been tagged in photos in that area

Step 6: Click on the barbershop names

Step 7: Scroll down and look for pictures of haircuts

Step 8: Click on the haircuts and visit the barbers page

Step 9: Go back to the places tab and repeat until you find someone you like

This is a great way for you to see haircuts from barbers before going to visit them.

Unfortunately this may not be as great for those of you in more remote areas (some barbershops haven't even set up a website or Facebook page yet), but hopefully it will help a lot of you!

Top tip - Look for haircuts similar to what you want to go for with your style, and visit as many pages as you possibly can so that you can compare.
